Taste the Attraction…Savor the Surrender

Meet Darcy, Romance Writer

I love history. Particularly English history. And even more particularly the Tudor period. The intrigue! The beheadings! The ginormous lace ruffs! I also love the Regency period. The scandals! The waltz! The super tight pants! I read my first historical romance as a teenager when my mom introduced me to Kathleen Woodiwiss, Rosemary Rogers, and others. I started writing my first book in high school. Somewhere 100 or so handwritten pages are floating around (probably decomposing at the bottom of a landfill, where they should be).

At some point writing a historical romance novel became a towering passion. My deepest desire. The food of my soul. Every romance cliche you can think of. I am thoroughly enjoying learning the craft, honing my skills, and making new friends (my critique partners rock as do the members of Rose City Romance Writers!). Where will it take me? I’ve no idea, but stay tuned to find out.

On a personal note, I live on the edge of wine country in Oregon’s Willamette Valley with my husband, two busy children, and, as Mr. Burke is fond of saying, 1.6 cats. There are actually two cats, sisters in fact, but one has just three legs. While Mr. Burke’s description is witty, it’s not terribly accurate. As the alpha cat, little Kira is way more than .6 worth of kitty! (In case you were wondering, Kira lost her leg to cancer in 2004, but is doing great!)
